Biographie (Francais)
Paul McGillion fait parti d’une famille nombreuse puisqu’il a 6 frères et sœurs. A deux ans, il quitte son pays natal pour le Canada : il retournera en Écosse pour quelques années lorsqu’il aura 11 ans. Après ses études (au cours desquelles il pratiquera beaucoup de sports), il veut devenir comédien et commence à étudier le théâtre à Toronto, tout en passant des castings. Il a beaucoup joué à la télévision puisqu’on a notamment pu le voir dans X-Files, Smallville, Jake 2.0 ou encore la Quatrième Dimension. Il apprécie bien évidemment le théâtre et a joué dans plusieurs pièces au cours de ces 15 dernières années.
Son rôle du docteur Beckett dans Stargate Atlantis arrive à point nommé et lui a donné une renommée internationale qui lui permettra sûrement de tourner encore plus de films.
Biographie et Carrière (anglais)
The sixth of seven children, Paul's family emigrated to Canada from Paisley, Scotland. An all-round athlete Paul became a Freestyle Wrestling Champion whilst at University. After graduating the actor began his career teaching theatre in Toronto, squeezing in time to attend auditions.
Paul has worked extensively in film, tv and the theatre for the last 15 years, as well as teaching ‘scene study in' '98 & '99 at the respected Vancouver Film School. The actor also expanded his prospects adding both directing and producing to his resume. Directing, producing and taking the leading role in the stage performance of ‘Reservations for Two’ earning rave reviews and a ‘Jessie’ nomination for the production. Another recent film he not only produced but co-starred in, found the actor receiving a nomination for the prestigious ‘2004 Leo Award’ as ‘Best Lead Male’ for his ‘heart wrenching performance as Dominic McKinley’. ‘See Grace Fly’ was screened at various film festivals including the Vancouver International Film Festival where it won both the ‘Best Film’ category and a ‘Best Actress’ award for McGillion’s co-star Gina Chiarelli.
Other feature film credits include "A Guy Thing" with Jason Lee and Julia Stiles, "The Replicant" starring Jean-Claude Van Damme and Michael Rooker, "The Crying Freeman" with Cheky Karyo, "Something More" with Thomas Cavanagh, "The Odd Squad" with Bruce Greenwood, and the feature film "Jack," where McGillion plays opposite Ron Silver and Stockard Channing. As well, Paul recently completed the soon-to-be-released animated feature "Inspector Gadget" in which he plays Dr. Evil's unscrupulous sidekick, Bomba Boy.
Television credits include lead and guest starring roles in "Jake 2.0," "Smallville," "The X-Files," "Twilight Zone," "Just Cause," "Stargate SG-1," "Strange World," "DaVinci's Inquest," and the recurring role of David Aitken on "Cold Squad." He also appeared in the television movies "N.S.T.B." with Mandy Patinkin, "A Cooler Climate" with Sally Field and Judy David, and "Dark Target" with Kim Delaney.
Theatre credits across Canada include "Spike Heels," "Savage in Limbo," "The Foreigner," "Piano," "Men Without Dates," and the Canadian premiere of "El Salvador".
